The following press release was issued by the City of Medford:

“Mayor Michael J. McGlynn, as statutory Issuing Authority for the City of Medford, MA, will conduct a public ascertainment hearing on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at 2:00 p.m., in the City Council Chambers at the Medford City Hall, 85 George P. Hassett Drive, Medford, MA.

“The purpose of the hearing will be to review the performance of one of the current cable television operators in Medford, Comcast, during its current license term and to hear testimony on future cable-related needs and interests of the Medford community. Interested parties are encouraged to attend and offer testimony on any cable-related matters.

“Any applications and reports to be
considered at the hearing are available for public inspection at the Medford City Hall during regular business hours and for reproduction at a reasonable fee.

For more  information on the public hearing, please call the Mayor’s Office at (781) 393-2408.”

Dear Residents,

May 7th, 2015 at 2 PM is the new date of the Comcast ascertainment hearing.

The City Council voted on April 21, 2015 to demand the hearing be held at 6:30 PM.  The Mayor, obviously, ignored that demand.

The only thing good about the date moving is that the Mayor's office is now actually publicizing something McGlynn allegedly wanted to keep as quiet about as possible.

This writer fought hard since 2014 to get information on Comcast's license renewal and - when it was discovered in the clerk's office, brought it to the attention of the Council on 3/17/15, St. Patty's Day. The Mayor received the information from Comcast on December 18, 2014

The contract with Comcast expired on April 20th, 2015.  Tune in to the City Council on April 28th to hear more information about the ascertainment hearing.

I met with State Rep Christine Barber yesterday, April 24th at 10:45 am and asked her to attend the ascertainment hearing.
