CITY RESPONSIBILITIES + PROCEDURES

The Medford DPW will plow and/or treat roads during any snow event. If a significant amount of snow is forecasted (typically 4+ inches), a snow emergency may be called and parking restrictions will go into place to allow plows to access the street and ensure passage for emergency vehicles.

Please don’t take it personally!

Often the DPW plows snow back into your driveway. Pushing snow into a driveway opening or along a car parked in the street is really unavoidable as we work to keep streets passable during all stages of a storm. Whether the snow is form Mother Nature, or from a plow or other source, it is still the responsibility of the resident to clear the area. Don’t throw snow from your sidewalks into the street− this is against the law ($50 fine 1st time, $100 fine 2nd time).

Sign up for community announcements that get delivered to your phone or email including information about shoveling and snow at www.medfordma.org/alerts.

FRIENDLY RECOMMENDATIONS

For people on foot, with strollers and in wheelchairs, ice can be worse than snow. It can cause dangerous falls. You are as responsible for ice on your sidewalks as you are for snow. You must address or treat it within 6 hours.

  • Stock up on ice melter before a storm. Make sure to sprinkle some down before the storm comes.
  • Use ice melter on your driveway entrance and sidewalks early and often to prevent snow from packing down and forming into ice.
  • Make sure to wipe your feet after applying it so you don’t track it into your house.

Materials to use:

  • Use ice melter with calcium chloride (CaCl2). It’s better for the environment and only a small amount is required to melt ice. Potassium chloride (KCl) is okay but be aware it can damage concrete.
  • Use biodegradable cat litter as another good option.
  • Avoid rock salt (NaCl or sodium chloride) – it kills plants and trees. Also avoid sand. It doesn’t help pedestrians; it makes hard ice more slippery. It also gets into storm drains and catch basins and is expensive to clean up in the spring.

What Capitol attack? Amnesia sets in among Republicans in Washington
As they walked the corridors that were overrun by rioters just three weeks earlier, Republican members of Congress spoke about that attack as if it were a long ago battle of a forgotten war.

The Senate is moving toward its second impeachment trial of Donald Trump, which is scheduled to begin Feb. 8 and will provide a vivid reminder of the violent takeover of the Capitol that resulted in five deaths. But Republicans — some of whom initially showed willingness to push for consequences for Trump — have swiftly closed ranks around a new message: Let it go.

21 Men Accuse Lincoln Project Co-Founder of Online Harassment...MUST BE THE GUY FROM MEDFORD UNITED...

CODE NAME: KB...KERRY'S BLOGGER!

John Weaver, a longtime G.O.P. operative who advised John McCain and John Kasich, made sexual overtures to young men, sometimes offering to help them get work in politics.

Steve Schmidt, a co-founder of the group, said its leaders had learned last summer from social media posts that Mr. Weaver, who has a wife and two children, might be involved in relationships with men, (HYPOCRITE REPUBLICAN THAT HE IS! ) but emphasized, “There was no awareness or insinuations of any type of inappropriate behavior when we became aware of the chatter at the time.” Mr. Weaver denied the claims, Mr. Schmidt said in an interview.

In mid-January, after the allegations gained public attention, Mr. Weaver issued a statement acknowledging he had sent “inappropriate” messages and apologizing “to the men I made uncomfortable,” while saying he had believed all of his interactions to be consensual. He said he would not return to the Lincoln Project from a medical leave that began in the summer.

Interviews with the 21 young men, as well as a review of screenshots of dozens of messages he sent them over the last five years, show that his online behavior was in many cases aggressive and unwanted.  https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/31/us/politics/john-weaver-lincoln-project-harassment.html

Former Mayoral Candidate Lisa D'Antonio, Jim's former Campaign Manager for Council Valerie Attenazio,  Kerry Harris, Anna Maria Laidlaw and Tony Cugno are the new legal team for walking disaster Donald J. Trump

CNN)Former President Donald Trump's five impeachment defense attorneys have left a little more than a week before his trial is set to begin, according to people familiar with the case, amid a disagreement over his legal strategy.

It was a dramatic development in the second impeachment trial for Trump, who has struggled to find lawyers willing to take his case. And now, with legal briefs due next week and a trial set to begin only days later, Trump is clinging to his election fraud charade and suddenly finds himself without legal representation.
Butch Bowers and Deborah Barbier, who were expected to be two of the lead attorneys, are no longer on the team. A source familiar with the changes said it was a mutual decision for both to leave the legal team. As the lead attorney, Bowers assembled the team.
Josh Howard, a North Carolina attorney who was recently added to the team, has also left, according to another source familiar with the changes. Johnny Gasser and Greg Harris, from South Carolina, are no longer involved with the case, either.  https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/30/politics/butch-bowers-deborah-barbier-trump-impeachment-team/

COVID: Medford Drops out of High Risk Category

Medford Drops Out Of High-Risk Category

Medford's positive test rate fell by more than two percent since last week.  MEDFORD, MA — Medford fell out of the high-risk category in the latest Massachusetts Department of Health city and town coronavirus report Thursday.

The city's positive test rate over the last two weeks was just 2.96 percent, down from 5.02 percent last week, according to the state report. That put it in the moderate-risk, or yellow, category.

Medford was one of the dozens of cities and towns that were removed from the high-risk category Thursday, amid a multi-week decline in coronavirus rates across the state.   https://patch.com/massachusetts/medford/medford-drops-out-high-risk-category

Dear Neighbors,

On Monday, Gov. Charlie Baker announced that people over 75 years old would be eligible for COVID vaccinations beginning February 1.

On Tuesday, Baker announced, in his State of the Commonwealth address, a website where they could sign up, beginning Wednesday.

On Wednesday at 12:01 a.m., within hours of the announcement, seniors tried to sign up on the website.  Others tried after reading their morning news.

Within hours of the launch, legislators and reporters heard from angry people that the site simply didn't work.

The Herald ran this photo of me looking at my computer in distress after hours of frustration, with the caption "INFURIATING."  They quoted a woman from Longmeadow: "I literally worked in user experience design for years... This is an area I know and I was stumped."

WCVB interviewed Sen. Anne Gobi, who got over 30 legislators to sign a letter asking for a centralized signup system and a 1-800 phone number: "We are failing people miserably."  I described my attempts to sign up: "They were just not ready...People write to me and say 'we're the home of Harvard and MIT: can't you get someone to design a website?'"
WGBH quoted me:
"If it was centralized, then I wouldn't have to every Thursday go and look and see if there was something at 12:01 and compete with other people on searching...This should not be 'The Hunger Games.'

Other headlines: MetroWest Daily News: “‘Mind boggling’ process.”  Cape Cod Times: “Vaccine Chaos.”  Worcester Telegram: “a Titanic shipwreck.”
Boston Globe: "Seniors frustrated". NBC News: "As frustration grows Baker urges patience."  WGBH: AG Maura "Healey: '
Baker's Vaccine Website Is 'Way More Complicated Than It Needs To Be''"

The website was clearly not tested.  The map doesn't have the same information as the lists of sites.  The search function doesn't work.  (I get nothing within 100 miles.). There are more than 25 different signup forms, all different, plus phone numbers to call for appointments.  Some don't work at all, some have no appointments available, some are limited to one or a few communities or patients of a health center or hospital.  One requires uploading your primary and secondary insurance cards before telling you there's no availability for that date; it doesn't save your information, so you have to do it again for another date.  Another requires uploading your drivers license as well.  There are sites that are not listed that are taking appointments, while most of those listed aren't doing so yet.

On Thursday, Sen. Eric Lesser filed emergency legislation requiring the governor to establish a centralized booking system and a 24 hour hotline.  Within hours, over 50 legislators including me had cosponsored the bill.

On Friday, Secretary Marylou Sudders briefed the Senate on the vaccine rollout.   (I'll write more next week on possible reasons for the problems.)  The governor announced that next week he would set up a phone signup system.

The buck stops short...

The governor has not taken responsibility or apologized for the chaotic rollout and non-functional website.

He blamed the federal government for lack of supply.   WCVB reported, "The governor placed the blame squarely on the federal government."  There isn't enough supply to meet the demand or the promise, but that doesn't explain the terrible website.

He denied there was anything wrong with the website.  WBUR reported that "A reporter...asked if there were plans to streamline the process, and Baker responded: 'How much more streamlined would you like it to be than that?'

He suggested seniors just couldn't use computers and needed help: "he encouraged relatives and friends to assist seniors who might need help with the online process."

He asked people to have patience and "keep checking for openings."  Since by his own calculation, they might not find one for weeks, it's not clear how often people might have to try.

As for the future phone system, Baker said,
"We've been staffing call centers since this pandemic began and we've been staffing them in a pretty big hurry, in many cases, on some fairly complicated topics," he said. "We're pretty good at it. We're late, but we're pretty good at it. I don't worry about whether or not the call center will be able to serve people appropriately. It will."  (Vermont and New Hampshire already have live call centers established,)

Actually the phone centers for unemployment insurance and eviction diversion have been terrible.  Legislators get several calls a day from people who have tried for weeks or months to resolve unemployment problems through the phone center.

I challenged the governor on Twitter to try navigating the site himself......

My main complaint today is that the
administration was absolutely not ready when they told tens of thousands of seniors to sign up.  They weren’t ready to deliver the shots.  They weren’t ready to make appointments.  The website was broken.

There's a lot more to say about the rollout, and I'll do that soon.  Some of the major decisions have been very good, some have been truly questionable.

Stay safe and stay in touch!

SOLUTION ORIENTED: We make BIG changes in Medford: Removal of Mayor's Uncle at Housing Authority; REMOVAL of TV3, Exposure of Vice Chair of School Committee

Pressing Charges Against Kerry Laidlaw for Harassment

AFTER I BLOCKED A WOMAN NAMED KERRY LAIDLAW SHE STARTED HARASSING ME BEHIND MY BACK.

NOW SHE AND/OR HER ACCOMPLICE ARE STEALING COPYRIGHTS AND STALKING ME, OVER 15 E MAILS AND OTHER WEB HARASSMENT...

IT TAKES INTEGRITY TO PUT YOUR NAME ON YOUR WRITINGS, BUT LIKE ED FINN AND RICK CARAVIELLO, THESE ARE YELLOW-BELLIED COWARDS TOO SPINLESS AND DISHONEST TO PUT THEIR NAMES TO THEIR WRITINGS.

IN A CITY WITH THE MOST BRADY - INFESTED POLICE FORCE IN MIDDLESEX COUNTY

KERRY THINKS SHE CAN GET AWAY WITH MALFEASANCE CLAIMING TO BE BUDDY BUDDY WITH BUCKLEY, LUNGO-KOEHN AND FALCO.   FINE.  LET'S PUT THEM ON THE WITNESS STAND, IF PERTINENT, AND FIND OUT HOW CLOSE THEY REALLY ARE.

Rumor has it that Trump supporter Kerry Laidlaw, who harassed this writer because she supports that violent ex-president, is no longer a part of Medford United.

Kerry has a sick, bitter friend lurking in the shadows doing some very dirty things.

I am pressing charges and under oath Kerry Laidlaw will have to reveal her pal.

Pressing charges this week.

FEB COURT DATE ON ANOTHER MATTER

I have multiple restraining orders (2) on a woman currently (in court in February) and will be asking the District Attorney to see if that individual is involved with Laidlaw and her sick associate clearly doing her dirty work.

Another individual sent me some ugly rants Kerry posted on Facebook saying crazy things like she "rejected me" (after I blocked her???) and other juvenile and very harassing things...saying that I was watching her page.
After I blocked it?

I don't think so, there's an e mail from the very nice informant ...a name I never heard of before sending me Kerry's insanity.  We spoke on the phone after that nice person was kind enough to cut and paste Kerry Laidlaw's harassing lunacy. The person wanted me to know her wrongful conduct and I am very thankful that they did.

There is enough evidence from her text to my phone, her rants on Facebook etc. for me to press charges of harassment, but she is over the top with her associate.

Fine.  There is so much evidence against them already printed out, violations of copyright, a threat against one of my pets, and abuse of a deceased friend of mine.

This is the sick city of Medford caused because former mayor Michael J. McGlynn put in an abusive, harassing and outlaw police department.  Rumor has it that Chief Jack Buckley actually engaged with Ms. Laidlaw before she allegedly left Medford United.

It is ALL going in front of a judge...and soon.

Kerry will have to reveal who is doing the criminal conduct on her behalf.  My bet? Some police officer who plays with himself instead of working for a living.  He probably hijacked a pension too after a career of misdeeds.

John Falco and Breanna Lungo-Koehn are going to RUN, not walk, when the woman who calls herself their "best friend" comes begging for help.

And here's the good news: It is NOT in Falco or Lungo-Koehn's jurisdiction.  Honest to God, at 11:58 pm the police are here right now in THIS jurisdiction.

The police are here RIGHT NOW, and the very good news: They AIN'T Medford Cops!!!!!

I just snapped a photo.  The police car is in front of my house going the wrong direction.  They are VERY aware of what happened to me when I released the L'Italien Report so they are in front. Thank you VERY MUCH.  Good guys!
