Call Medford City Hall and the wife of the late, disgraced sheriff, James V. DiPaola will slam the phone in your ear. The lack of public service by that woman who thinks she is entitled is a big neon billboard warning how bad things are in a broken city. DiPaola's brother-in-law, as disgraced as her late husband, was forced out of the Medford Housing Authority for malfeasance and barred from holding a public position and fined.
So why is corrupt Robert Covelle's sister-in-law, the wife of the crooked sheriff, in such a seat of power at Medford City Hall?

Robert Covelle's wife is Patricia DiPaola Covelle, another disgraced woman who thought the rules did not apply to her. Rumor is she may have been a front protecting someone, allegedly her brother or her husband or both.

BOSTON (Legal Newsline) – Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley announced a settlement on Tuesday with the former treasurer of former Middlesex Sheriff James V. DiPaola’s campaign committee that resolves allegations of campaign finance violations.
Under the terms of the agreement, Patricia Covelle admitted to campaign financial violations, including accepting individual cash contributions of more than $50 that totaled approximately $4,000 to the DiPaola Committee. Coakley also recommended that changes be made to laws related to campaign finance to ensure greater accountability and transparency by elected officials.

Meanwhile, there were other employees interviewed whose accounts contradicted the evidence of a “pay-to-play” environment. None of the witnesses interviewed was able to provide circumstantial or direct information necessary to support a criminal allegation that a specific person was promoted based on a campaign contribution or multiple contributions.
Because the evidence did not support specific criminal violations there will not be a full explanation of what happened during the late DiPaola’s tenure. The evidence did, however, support actions taken by the State Ethics Commission against employees of the Middlesex sheriff’s office for violating G.L. c. 268A, which refers to the conflict of interest law.
(In other words, friends of McGlynn get the trademark Martha Coakley "slap on the wrist.") Shameful!

Medford City Hall under McGlynn needs to be surrounded with yellow tape and declared a crime scene.
It is criminal for public servant Adeline DiPaola to slam the phone in the ear of a constituent, even if she had to sign for one or two subpoenas that arrived to request McGlynn show up in court to answer questions...and what a conflict of interest when the wife of a sheriff signs a document, a subpoena meant for the Mayor, when her husband's name is the stamp on the masthead of the subpoena. Signed by DiPaola from the office of DiPaola... go figure the nepotism going on.
