Hello Ed,

I'll be over to your office today to file a petition to demand the City Council do as New Bedford has done to RESCIND THE PAY RAISE vote.

Camuso's gluttony is beyond the pale.  

Thank you Inside Medford for the 2013 VOTE information that I utilized in the article, and the Medford Transcript's story on the pay raises.   Vote yourself a payraise...what?  Does Mr. Camuso think he's the president of the old TV3 or something?  (Camuso slams gavel down as legitimate comparison is made to show his gluttony!)

What does New Bedford and Medford have in common, other than the sort-of rhyme to their names?

I'm filing to demand the City Council RESCIND the Pay Raise, and will be asking they put those monies to the building of a new TV station as I also roll out a road map for building the new Channel 3.

The Medford Transcript writes:

Marks and Penta asked fellow councilors several times to vote against the raises for themselves and McGlynn."It’s not that I don’t think we deserve a pay raise. I just don’t think we should accept one — that’s my opinion," Marks said. "It’s a symbolic gesture, but it means a lot that we’re willing to forego our pay raise because we know that there are other things that need to be accomplished in our community."The council president will earn $32,550 after the last raise increment in 2016, and the vice president will make $30,640. The salary for all other councilors will be $29,360.

Councillors Rebeiro and Carney To File Motion to Rescind 44% Pay Raise

On Thursday, March 13th, 2014,  New Bedford City Councillors Dan Rebeiro and Naomi Andrews-Carney will officially file a written motion the rescind the 44% pay raise city councilors voted for in 2012.  Here is the exact wording:

WRITTEN MOTION, Councillors Rebeiro and Carney, requesting that the City Council, rescind the 44% pay raise, until such time as the Council can review a more suitable adjustment that is more reflective of the City’s current financial standing. (To be Referred to the Committee on Finance.)

Who would have thought that the paltry number of votes would lead to such a travesty and waste of city funds?

Well, I did.  This writer was up at the City Council week after week begging the voters to go to the polls.  Don't blame me. 

We are working on Charter Change with a meeting scheduled at a place already designated in Medford Square in early April.  Stay tuned for more details.  There are many of us on the Charter Change committee already.  The public is invited to join in on this very serious matter, which has been quietly in the planning stages for quite some time.  More details in the very near future.  Keep watching the City Council as we roll out the Charter Change Committee.
