New Ten Year Deal with Comcast Signed by Mayor McGlynn
By Joe Viglione
July
1st Mayor McGlynn signed a new ten year deal with Comcast which -
purportedly - runs to June 30, 2025. Page 21 of that contract appears
to be in direct conflict with Page 18. Check it out:

Section 6.2 PEG Access Channels

...and shall be subject to the control and management of the Issuing Authority

Section 6.8 CENSORSHIP
Neither
the Licensee (Comcast) nor the City and/or its designee(s) shall
engage in any program censorship and/or any other control of the
content.of the PEG Access Programming on the cable system, except as
otherwise required or permitted by applicable law.
There
you have it.
Michael J. McGlynn proclaimed "leadership that
works." Stephanie Muccini-Burke, his former budget director, declares
"partners in progress." Both slogans they brag ring hollow.
Who made McGlynn the "Issuing Authority" and who will admonish McGlynn for violating the clause about CENSORSHIP?
What is the law? See page 7

ARTICLE 2
GRANT OF RENEWAL LICENSE
(a)Pursuant to the authority of Chapter 166A of the General Laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts ...
_________________________________________________________________
Section
6.8 notes that no program can be censored...that means on the
Government as well as the High School and Access channel, BUT:
---Visual Radio, my celebrated, award-winning programming, is definitely censored
---Community
Media Medford, a registered business in Medford, is censored when City
Clerk Ed Finn purportedly tells his assistants, August 2013, that no
petition by Joe Viglione will be allowed. That's censorship on the
government channel. When the frustrated city clerk assaults a man over
sixty, that is intimidation, bullying and RETALIATION designed to CENSOR
a Medford resident. It is as clear as the boxes the McGlynn
Administration left outside Alden Chambers from December of 2014 to
March of 2015 at which point another registered Medford business,
Medford Information Central, a magazine owned by this writer, took
photos and showed the public how the failed leadership of Mike McGlynn
has turned this fine city ugly, very ugly.
Look
at Anthony D'Antonio's letter to the Medford Transcript today. Under a
Mayor D'Antonio we would have access TV. D'Antonio wouldn't stall,
delay, lie and then have the City Solicitor issue further lies to the
public like this gem in the Medford Mercury
City Solicitor Mark E. Rumley / Medford Daily Mercuryon or about Nov. 16, 2008 (quoted from the 2nd Judge Jackson-Thompson hearing) saying:
“The
one sentiment that I have heard that I take great exception to is that
the city is trying to limit speech,” said Rumley. “The notion the city
would censor or squelch free speech is baseless and as city solicitor I
would find any such effort repugnant.”
_______________________________________________________________
You
gotta be kidding, Mark Rumley! Read Mr. D'Antonio's letter and see
that many, many people are outraged that we have 28 candidates for
elected office, mostly unknowns, and no public television.
McGlynn
went ahead with his plans for the high school and put a phony baloney
distraction of a three person panel with a priest(???) a teacher at the
high school paid for with PEG monies (???? Big conflict) and a nice
fellow from the MWRA. Guess McGlynn confuses cable lines with water
pipes as he has nice slush funds provided by both due to his failed
leadership.
McGlynn
violated the CENSORSHIP provision of the contract, delayed the
contract, signed it on 7/1/15 and the Solicitor writes me on the 14th
which I received on July 17th saying he never saw the contract until the
14th. Perhaps he was buying a bridge in Brooklyn at the time and
couldn't be bothered, but you know and I know the reality of the
situation beyond the deceit flourishing at McGlynn and Rumley's city
hall.
The election is 102 days from Thursday, July 23, 2015 http://tinyurl.com/medfordelection2015
and the Mayor has reneged on his promise to have access TV up and running. This is intentional failed leadership as the dying McGlynn Administration is attempting to stack the deck and hold onto the last vestiges of power in this city.
This writer's petition to the City Council, #15-595, dated July 21, 2015, will discuss a vote on lending monies from our non-profits to the library is step one in creating infrastructure for our new TV station. The Mayor wants the new station at the high school, where he can control it. His 3 person panel suggested a central location. The library and/or the Chevalier Theater are the logical places to have a new public television station in Medford.
In November of 2014 an article was published in Columbus, Ohio on the shutting down of access television in that city. Columbus appears to have a government channel that is "one size fits all" - see for yourself:
Watch CTV CTV Columbus Government Television provides citizens information about the Columbus City government and increases citizens' accessibility to City officials and staff through quality programming that includes unedited gavel to gavel coverage of government meetings, events, documentaries, talk shows and call-in programs.

An online magazine, Free Press, has the story of what is going on in Columbus and it is chillingly similar to what is transpiring in Medford, Massachusetts.

Make room for TV3 at the Chevalier.
That idea, and Rick Caraviello's idea of the library, both viable and absolutely necessary over the next 105 days.
In Columbus Ohio the council candidates were outraged over not having their voice.
Where is the outrage in Medford where McGlynn is violating the contract and only Joe Viglione is out there fighting for your rights, and getting slugged by a violent, lazy city clerk, Ed Finn, who is bullying and intimidating and CENSORING your petitions with impunity. Mark Rumley is a liar, Ed Finn is a violent cheat, and Mayor McGlynn is spitting in your face, dear residents and candidates.
Why am I the only voice standing up for YOUR rights?
