Apologies for the multiple postings which have gone into "draft." The iPhone was not getting a good connection on Main St.
Packed house for Marks at the Sei Bar Restaurant, fine Asian Cuisine and Sushi Bar 182 Main St, Medford, MA 02155
Candidate Michael Marks gave a powerful speech about improving Medford, bringing life to the the different squares - especially to Medford Square - and touched on topics that he's covered at the Medford City Council over the past two years (or the past 14 years, take your pick.)
Those in attendance, and it was packed to the gills, were all in agreement.
Marks thanked other candidates Mark Crowley, Chris D'Aveta, Neil Osborne, John Falco, Kathy Kreatz (School Committee) and Mayoral candidate Bob Penta while other attendees included Dr. Wood and his lovely wife Carolyn Rosen, Anthony D'Antonio, Robert Cappucci and Medford notables you may have seen at the council and/or around town. It looked like Rick Caraviello was there, hard to tell because he had one foot at Michael Marks event and the other one reaching for the door hoping to get to an event for the opposition. Like my late girlfriend at the gay bar wearing a green shoe and a purple shoe, she said to the young lady marveling at her attire "I just can't make up my mind!"
Neither can Rick!

What really makes these parties rock is what you hear through the grapevine of course and there's a certain rookie councilor whose ears must be ringing.
Yes, there was outrage aimed at Adam Knight and he was the talk of the town...none of it being any good. Terms like "outside monies," or that he spent "seven of seventeen thousand dollars" and how nervous Knight and Dello Russo both are.
But the consensus was that the city could put up with Dello Russo and that Knight is just no damn good! Ouch! That kind of buzz with such a big crowd of politically motivated citizens means that Adam has to go into overdrive with candidates all looking at the seat Knight currently holds as the easy one to grab.

Look, it was INSANE for this city to spend around Thirty Three THOUSAND dollars for a dumb primary. Does it really matter at all that Brian Chamberlain and Mario Martin are not on the ballot? Was it worth 33K for the dog and pony show of a small fraction of voters showing up for a temperature reading?
What we do see is that D'Aveta, Osborne, O'Keefe, Crowley, Scarpelli and Falco have real traction and that with two seats open it seems pretty clear that Falco and Scarpelli could waltz right in along with Marks and Breanna Lungo-Koehn.
There are three seats up for grabs, Caraviello, Knight and Dello Russo. If Dello Russo puts some effort in he could retain his dynasty position, meaning that O'Keefe, Crowley and Osborne are going to be stepping on the gas to take the place of Knight and Caraviello.
Knight, Caraviello and Dello Russo ARE vulnerable and O'Keefe, Osborne and Crowley could just waltz right in and shake up the council for the better. Breanna and Michael will be there to steer the ship.
Knight is scared and McGlynn is a lame duck. The embattled Mayor has his hands full trying to convince residents that Mrs. Burke has what it takes. She doesn't, and that's the problem. McGlynn is out selling a bill of goods with no substance, no vision and lacking the skill it takes to campaign for mayor of a major municipality five miles north of Boston.
Mrs. Burke, like Adam Knight, depending on outsiders to get them inside Medford. Pun intended.
This unique campaign is rife with what we call MCGLYNN FATIGUE.
McGlynn fatigue is stuck to Burke, Dello Russo, Knight and Caraviello like glue. They are the personification of McGlynn fatigue, Mrs. Burke following McGlynn around like a lost puppy dog wagging her tail and her tongue hanging out for a treat! Woof Woof!
