primary election results

Editorial by Joe Viglione

"We need you!"
A candidate to the editor after the election results tonight at City Hall

Well, the people we told you to vote for pretty much came in ahead of the pack:

Michael Marks, Breanna Lungo-Koehn,
John Falco*, William O'Keefe,  Mark Crowley

see our pick to click pre-primary here:
http://medfordinformationcentral.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

*Mr. Falco topped the ticket.  I knew that he didn't need my vote so I gave it to Mario Martin.  Mr. John Falco gets my vote in November.

LET'S LOOK AT THE NEWCOMERS FIRST:

Brian Chamberlain, Mario Martin, Neil McSweeney and Leonore Eforo have to campaign harder.  What were they thinking?
I voted for three of them as it would be nice to have a change, but how they can overcome seasoned veterans (including Neil Osborne and Mark Crowley who, though never elected, have campaigned before and came close in 2013) as well as incumbents and three people from the school committee - Falco, Scarpelli and O'Keefe.   It would take a Herculean effort and as nice as those four individuals are, they don't seem to have the campaign skills to make this happen; to overtake "brand names."

Mr. Mario Martin is most disappointing because I advised him of this fact months and months ago.  Martin was arrogant as if his place on the council was "inevitable." He refused to listen to the voice of reason - a journalist giving him solid advice, and the result speaks volumes.

Which brings us to Michael C. Ruggiero, the "Take Government" joke of a candidate who fell flat on his face.   Ruggiero takes home the consolation prize of being 400 above the other people that didn't campaign very well, but Ruggiero got crushed by the known brands and now, instead of campaigning, the abusive candidate is shadow boxing me!

That is Michael C. Ruggiero's investment of time. To challenge moi to a debate?  Look, imbecile, you can't even speak directly at the city council, you want to debate a man who probably has the world's record of speaking at the Medford City Council, and who has spoken at seminars annually for the better part of thirty years...and...you challenge him to a debate rather than keeping your true focus: getting elected.

And you went to (or teach at) M.I.T.?  Really????

Why someone would invest time attacking a journalist when that someone needs every single vote is the pure definition of insanity.

The internet trolls that Ruggiero engages with - that "Al Sarese Malfease" or whatever the troll's name is on Reddit  (just looked it up, the troll calls itself Alces Alces Shirasi) ...hanging out with internet trolls will NOT get you elected.

But Ruggiero, arrogant with not an ounce of common sense, can hug the consolation prize like the crazed teacher from the film IN AND OUT who grabbed the award because Kevin Kline's character was "disqualified" for being gay.

Ruggiero has made an enemy, and making enemies in a small "town" like the city of Medford is fine if you are an investigative reporter, but not very good if you are running for office.

Ruggiero = nitwit.  What a jerk.  Goodbye to bad rubbish.

A phone call came in from a well-known Medford political junkie:

Sports Host JOHN FROM MEDFORD,
Johnny Byers, voted today. Here is his commentary:

"I believe there's going to be a major shift on the City Council of Medford.  And that doesn't bode well for a number of people.   On November 3rd the losers might be Adam Knight, Rick Caraviello and Freddy Jr. (though I voted for him) ...I feel that with the new faces you are going to see major change.  McGlynn sympathizers on the council will be gone. I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't another woman, especially with the 2016 election going to be the "year of the woman."
