Robert M. Penta got louder applause at the debates, more community support on the campaign trail, and McGlynn/Muccini-Burke were so scared they kept polling residents.
BUT - McGlynn was polling to see how many votes he needed to stuff the ballot boxes with.
If McGlynn sees Muccini-Burke lose, the 28 year incumbent knew an audit would mean a chance of indictment and a long Speaker DiMasi prison term...(Allegedly) McGlynn reportedly thought the FBI was going to arrest him after Jimmy DiPaola's alleged "suicide."
Voter fraud could get McGlynn six months; an audit ten years. McGlynn had nothing to lose in stealing this election, 2015
And you were warned, voters, months in advance from this news organization. You were warned.

Jim Fetzer: Gambling with democracy: Did Burke beat Walker, after all?

When Burke ran against the governor, I was impressed by her ability to manage the complexities of a campaign. She did better than Walker in the debates and was supported by visits from some of the most popular figures in the Democratic Party, including Michelle Obama (twice), Bill Clinton and even the president of the United States. The best Walker could do was bring in another scandal-tainted governor, Chris Christie, whose presence was unlikely to make a difference.Burke ran a very strong campaign, where the efforts of her opponents to attack her on grounds of plagiarism — when recycling position statements is common practice in politics — was a nice example of grasping at straws. Walker had nothing better to use against her. And the stories appearing in the Wisconsin State Journal were uniformly unfavorable to Walker, including new releases about the “John Doe” investigation and snubbing pre-school program funding.
