Medford Public Schools names Lisa Evangelista to new PR job, new mayor supports decision

The Transcript reported on Dec. 17
that officials representing both the city and schools expected the
position to go to Evangelista, who had worked under McGlynn for 35 years
as an administrative assistant, earning an annual salary of $88,040
this year, according to the city’s budget.
Belson
said last month that the position would pay about $85,000 to $90,000
per year. The salary will rank Evangelista among the district’s 50-60
highest-paid employees, according to the district’s current budget.
Because
the job is non-union, Belson said the district was not required to seek
applicants through an open search. But Belson said he had received
several resumes from people who expressed interest in the job.
