Medford in the National News Media and it ain't pretty.

But Stephen LeBert represents something far worse than a motorist who gets lost in a confounding intersection.
He’s a bully with a badge.  (Boston Globe)

“I’ll put a hole right through your [FXXXXXNG expletive] head,’’ LeBert, enraged and out of control, said during the encounter captured by Coates’s dashboard camera. “Pull your car over. I’ll put a hole right in your [expletive] head. I’ll put a hole right through your head.’’

This photo is so bad that for close to four years this news source, called "delusional" in a court of law by the city solicitor,  has not published it.

This is alleged police violence against a woman.

A Medford police officer was allegedly having an affair and this is what he allegedly did to the woman's lip.

TO SERVE AND PROTECT

This was NOT the act of Shawn Norton or Officer Miguel Lopez or Stephen LeBert or Gerry Clemente...nope, yet another law enforcement person not being held to a higher standard.

Oh, and we have more unreleased material that the public will find very interesting.  All at the right time, all in good time.

So this is how you rebuild the public trust?

Blaming the victim?   I don't care if she was the mastermind behind the Brinks Robbery, she got bashed in the lip by an officer of the law.

Rebuilding public trust

For a department that has had to recover from debacles such as “Exam Scam” (1976-84) and the Depositors Trust bank heist (1980), last month’s incident involving LeBert stings badly, Sacco said.
“I get calls from chiefs and they’re all saying, ‘What the heck is that?’” Sacco said. “It’s embarrassing. You think you’ve made steps forward — you’re looked upon as a good department; that you have good people — then you take something like this and we look like we don’t know what we’re doing.”

In light of how Chief Sacco now regrets "not listening" to a woman over Stephen Lebert, and the myriad complaints against LeBert, and Sacco's comments about victims (the above victim "But she has a history") people wonder why Chief Sacco didn't fall on his sword and resign the way any other officer of the law who admits it was his fault (And Sacco took the blame for Lebert's vulgar actions) would.

It is time for Chief Sacco to really take responsibility and resign after turning a blind eye to Stephen LeBert's long, sorry history of police bullying and abuse of power.

But she has a history.

Really?  So, Chief, a victim of assault is either a "nut"(purportedly, allegedly what the chief called a senior, same-sex victim of a violent assault,) or "has a history" or this little gem in this story:  (Sacco) allowed his opinions of McMillan—who he called a repeat complainer—to affect his judgement.  (Maybe, Chief, just maybe, that's because there is a lot to complain about in this city??  Just asking.)

In August 2014, a woman named Marjorie McMillan called LeBert “scary and a bully” after she said he screamed at her inside a Medford bank because her car was parked too close to his cruiser. She called him a “loose cannon” and a liar, saying he’s the reason “that the integrity of police everywhere is called into question.”

McMillan met with the mayor and Chief Sacco about the incident last fall. Sacco says now that he couldn’t believe LeBert would behave this way. He allowed his opinions of McMillan—who he called a repeat complainer—to affect his judgement.

The stack of complaints and investigation reports in LeBert’s file detail a pattern of verbal and physical misconduct — including three criminal complaints alleging either assault or assault and battery.

In a 1991 incident, complainants said LeBert threw a 73-year-old man face down on the hood of a police cruiser and arrested him for disorderly conduct — though it was LeBert who had initiated contact with the man, who was walking his daughter’s dog, they said.

COMMENT FROM THE EDITOR:

Hey Alex (Ruppenthal, the writer), you write: "Rebuilding public trust For a department that has had to recover from debacles such as “Exam Scam” (1976-84) and the Depositors Trust bank heist (1980)" - but you neglected to mention Officer Jimmy Lee's assault case (2011,) Officer Miguel Lopez allegedly interfering in a murder investigation (2013,) and this past February, 2015, the alleged DUI, resisting arrest, hit and run of officer Shawn Norton, as well as WCVB's report on Alan Doherty.

Would you have done something to Lebert if someone had died from his anger?? His actions and behavior are why people have no respect for police any more. And Chief Sacco, your inaction has made it worse.
