After
the debate simmered, resident Len Glionna took to the podium to
encourage the council to work together. Glionna, who said he has watched
City Council meetings for 50 years, said the meeting had been one of
the most productive he’d ever seen until Marks and Knight’s argument.
“Just tone it down a bit and work together and this will move forward on its own,” Glionna said, referring to charter review.
After
two hours of discussion, the council voted to send Marks’ resolution to
committee, with the plan to then request that City Solicitor Mark
Rumley draft a home rule petition to initiate a charter review.
