Former Novato television director denies guilt in embezzlement case

Former Novato television director denies guilt in embezzlement case

A Novato man pleaded not guilty Monday to misappropriating some $15,000 while he was director of Novato Public Access Television.
Rick Tucker, 47, made his initial court appearance since he was arrested Feb. 12. He was arraigned in Marin Superior Court on two felony counts of grand theft and one felony count of embezzlement.

Tucker’s defense attorney, Anthony Capozzi, said Tucker is innocent. He said Novato officials pressed prosecutors to file charges to gain “the upper hand” in a lawsuit Tucker has filed against them.

“I don’t see where there’s any violation whatsoever,” Capozzi said. “I don’t think the prosecution’s going to be able to show any violations by Mr. Tucker.”
Tucker remains free on bail.
