RE: Open Meeting Law Complaint
Dear Attorney Rumley:
Dear Attorney Rumley:
This office received a complaint from Joseph Viglione on July 4 alleging that the
Medford Radio/TV Advisory Committee1 (the "Committee") violated the Open Meeting Law,
G.L. c. 30A, §§ 18-25.2 The complaint was originally filed with the Medford Legal
Department on or about June 24, and you responded, on behalf of the Committee, by letter
dated July 12.3 In his complaint, Mr. Viglione alleges that the Committee met privately
outside of the public's view.
Following our review, we find that the Committee violated the Open Meeting Law by failing to properly post notice of its meetings. In reaching a determination, we reviewed the original complaint, the Committee's response to the complaint, and the complaint filed with our office requesting further review. Additionally, we reviewed the notices of the Committee's October 25, 2016 and April 4, 2017 meetings.
