Background check of accused Brewster teacher had limitsPrevious investigation for alleged indecent assault not revealed.
BREWSTER — Stony Brook Elementary School did the required background checks before hiring a teacher now accused of sexually assaulting two first-grade students, Nauset Superintendent Thomas Conrad said.
But those checks do not provide information on all cases in an applicant’s past, and schools do not have access to the database that allowed Brewster police to discover that Noah Campbell-Halley was investigated in 2010 by Eastham police for an alleged indecent assault and battery on a 4-year-old.
“We knew nothing about this issue,” Conrad said via email Friday.
Campbell-Halley, 36, in his fifth year as a computer technology teacher at Stony Brook, was investigated while a teacher at Cape Cod Children’s Place in Eastham.
