Just read the announcement of the new station manager. First off, the job description is elliptic in itself. It calls him the station manager of the access station; talks about it as if he is only the Public Access manager. But then it goes on to say he will be giving support to the Educational Access and Government Access channels. Excuse me? "giving support" makes it sound like he is not actually the manager of those stations but has been given the obligation to work for these other outside entities. So which is it? Is he an actual PEG manager of a PEG station or is the just the Public Access Manager, but the Public Access portion of the franchise fee is being syphoned off by having our Public Access station manager's time being split off to do work for the other two channels while he should be devoting all of his time towards the Public Access membership?
I also noticed that he (Patrick Gordon) used to work for Malden Access. Did you ever meet him? Do you know him well enough to offer your opinion of how good (or bad) he will be? Is he going to be a tool of City Hall/Steph-the-Deaf (deaf to the needs of the Medford residents) or a champion of the members' rights?
