About
Running for Medford School Committee as an advocate for every child. Masters in Education Policy and Management. Co-chair of Medford Special Ed Parent Advisory Council, MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Advisory Board member.
Biography
Melanie McLaughlin, M.Ed is passionate about creating systemic change for every child. With a Masters degree in Education Policy and Management from Harvard and a Communications/Media degree from Fitchburg State McLaughlin believes stories connect people to policy and are a powerful vehicle for systemic change. As a former ward of the state and Lawrence, MA public school student she believes every community is responsible for every child. Melanie has created short films for the education initiative "By All Means" with former MA Secretary of Education, Paul Reville, has worked closely with former national special education director, Dr. Tom Hehir and has been both a Teaching Fellow at Harvard Graduate School of Education and adjunct faculty member at Fitchburg State. Melanie is the co-chair of the Medford Special Education Parent Advisory Council, is a member of the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Advisory Council, is on the Board of Directors for the Federation for Children with Special Needs. She is a mom of three children who inspire her daily and is interested in working with civic leaders, non-profit organizations and policy advocates to create equality of opportunity for all children.
