PRESS RELEASE

MEDFORD MUSTANGS BOYS SOCCER
Mayor Stephanie M. Burke, the City of Medford, and the Medford Public Schools we are ecstatic to announce that the Medford High School Boys Soccer Team will be participating in the Division 1 North Finals at Manning Bowl Field in Lynn, tomorrow, November 16th at 5:30PM.

Having exhausted all administrative avenues with the MIAA and MIAC, the City of Medford and Medford Public Schools under the direction of legal counsel filed suit in Middlesex Superior Court for equitable relief for the Medford Boys Soccer team.

Due to a clerical error, Medford High School officials did not request a waiver from the MIAA for a player on the team. This minor error should not prohibit the entire team from playing in the Division 1 North Finals.

As students, as athletes, as young men; these individuals have done nothing to deserve elimination from the tournament. They have conducted themselves as sportsmen, and true representatives of the MIAA and the Medford Public Schools.

Attorneys for both sides argued the case on Friday afternoon after it appeared evident that the team would not receive a decision from MIAC prior to the courts closing.

The Judge was thoughtful in his decision and praised both sides for their arguments saw fit to issue the Temporary Restraining Order which will allow our students to play. A BIG thank you to Medford community for your persistence and standing behind our team. It is truly the Mustang way!
