MAYOR LUNGO-KOEHN ANNOUNCES FORMATION OF TWO CITY TASK FORCES

Task Force on Fire Department Facilities, & Commission on Parking Policies and Enforcement to begin work this summer.
Both Task Forces currently seeking Medford resident participation.

MEDFORD – Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn announced today the formation of two Task Forces in the City of Medford, to review and provide recommendations on Fire Department facilities and current and future parking enforcement policies. The membership of each task force has been defined by the Mayor, and both are currently seeking applicants to fill positions for Medford residents. The City seeks to fill positions from a diverse pool of applicants.
Both Task Forces were previously identified by the Mayor as key components of the City’s goals around modernizing and expanding City services and improving our city infrastructure.
In February 2020, the City announced that it was seeking resident applicants to fill vacancies on some of its existing Boards and Commissions.
The City anticipates issuing another call for applicants later this month to fill upcoming vacancies on several boards and commissions.

Mayor’s Task Force on Fire Department Facilities
The Mayor’s Task Force on Fire Department Facilities will be tasked with evaluating the state of repair of existing facilities utilized by the Medford Fire Department, assessing needs of the Department and industry standards for operation, and developing strategies and recommendations to achieve those standards, including but not limited to the reuse, replacement, relocation, or consolidation of facilities.
The Task Force will be comprised of two Medford residents, a member of the City Council, the Medford Fire Chief or a designee, three members of IAFF Local 1032, the City’s Chief Procurement Officer, and the City’s Building Commissioner.
Residents seeking to serve on the Task Force should have a professional background or experience related to the subject matter.
Mayor’s Commission on Parking Policy and Enforcement
The Mayor’s Commission on Parking Policy and Enforcement will be tasked with evaluating the City’s current parking policies, their fee structure and collection methods, evaluating the structure of parking enforcement in the City and determine the need, mission and authority of a dedicated City department to address parking related matters, and providing recommendations to the Mayor based on these findings.
The Commission will be comprised of three Medford residents, one member of the City Council, the Chief of the Medford Police Department or a designee, the Chief of the Medford Fire Department or a designee, the City Engineer or a designee, the City Solicitor or a designee, and the Director of the Office of Community Development or a designee.
How to Apply
Residents who are interested in serving on these Task Forces should complete the Board and Commission Interest Form available at www.medfordma.org/boards/. Forms should be submitted via email to Neil Osborne, Director of Diversity & Inclusion, and Acting Director of Human Resources, at Nosborne@medford-ma.gov, or by mail to the Personnel Department at City Hall, 85 George P.
