Two New Bocce Ball Courts, Funded Through CPA, to Officially Open This Month

New Bocce Courts to open October 19 at 121 Riverside Ave. Rules and regulations, oversight to be managed by Medford Recreation Department.
The City of Medford has two brand-new Bocce Courts! Made possible through Community Preservation Act funding and in partnership with the Medford Housing Authority, the Bocce Courts located behind 121 Riverside Ave. will be managed by the City’s Recreation Department and maintained by the Housing Authority.
The City and Housing Authority will officially “open” the courts on October 19 with a small ribbon cutting ceremony, and the Recreation Department is planning free introductory Bocce classes this fall. The next class is scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Reservations are required in advance. For more details, visit www.medfordrecreation.com.
Bocce Court Rules
  • The courts are open from dusk to dawn.
  • Please restrict play to no more than four hours.
  • Courts are to be used for individuals or small groups (four people or less) for play. Organizations, tournaments, and large groups must obtain a permit from the Recreation Department.
  • No consumption of alcohol is allowed.
  • No profanity or foul language is allowed.
  • No loud music is allowed.
  • Bocce balls can be obtained at the Medford Senior Center during normal business hours.
Medford city services are available to all residents, regardless of economic situation, race, gender, immigration status, ability, benefit eligibility, or religious affiliation.
