A day later look at the comments

- betazeta12/14/20 - 1:00PMThis was unfortunate but I'm guessing it was a rare event on the whole, unless the restaurant didn't follow the protocols appropriately. I think restaurants have been unfairly maligned since the start of the pandemic. Thing is, restaurants at least can be regulated - social distancing measures, smaller table sizes, closing bars, protocols on handling of food, masks, etc. And as long as those regulations are enforced I will have high confidence in restaurants. What we can't control or regulate very well are the social gatherings that take place outside restaurants and businesses. We shouldn't conflate the two.

I
just just really glad I don't wait tables. I fully respect Covid
restrictions, but all the social isolation is obviously wearing on
people.

I
abhor the mindless "lock 'em up" mantra, but in these two cases,
people's lives have been senselessly put at-risk for the selfish
gratification of those whose focus is only upon themselves, so I say
"lock 'em up!" For a very long time.

Good
article. It raises a lot of the issues people struggle with. Not sure
what the restaurant did - or didn't - do to be COVID safe. But, it
always only takes one person, right? Prayers that everyone recovers.
What a nightmare.
