New Resource Line will connect residents to services, programs, and support in multiple languages.
MEDFORD – The City of Medford is strong and resilient, yet there are times when we all need support. To ensure that all families and individuals are receiving the support and help they may need, the City of Medford is announcing the Medford Multilingual Resource Line.
The Medford Multilingual Resource Line has been established to help answer questions, provide support, and make connections to services. Anyone can call 781-475-5644 and select a preferred language from the menu to leave a voicemail in their native language. Trained professionals in social work, mental health, and public health will return calls or correspond via email to ensure that residents are receiving answers to questions and connected to support services in their native language, through the use of interpreter services. Our staff can assist with connections to services or resources including but not limited to: SNAP and other food access resources, mental health services and support, housing resources and questions, educational supports, and more.
“The Medford Board of Health staff have worked tirelessly, often around the clock, to provide necessary services and supports for the Medford community. The Medford Multilingual Resource Line is another product of their many labors of love for this City, and I am incredibly grateful to this dedicated team for continuing to find new ways to provide for all residents of this City,” said Mayor Lungo-Koehn.
“It is more important than ever that we are offering support and connecting with all people whose native language is not English. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has impacted access to information and services, and we are here to help answer questions and guide residents to services in their native language” says Office of Prevention and Outreach Manager, Penelope Funaiole.
The Medford Multilingual Resource Line comes after coordination with Medford community groups and agencies to get feedback and ensure that individuals, families, and the community at large have access to resources to remain safe and supported through the COVID-19 crisis.
The Multilingual Resource Line offers menu options to leave messages for City staff in Arabic, English, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, or Spanish. Other languages not on the menu can be left in the English voicemail box. Calls will be returned within 24 hours in the language the call is received. The operating hours are Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. Voicemails can be left 24 hours/7 days a week.
As always, if your situation is an emergency ALWAYS call 911. If the situation is a crisis and you need to speak with a person immediately please call 211 or visit www.mass211.org.
Residents that are in need of companion calls, access to food, or in need of cleaning supplies due to COVID-19 may complete the Resident Request For: www.medfordma.org/coronavirus-information.
Medford city services are available to all residents, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, age, language ability, economic situation, or immigration status.
