In Medford, we constantly strive to live up
to the ideal that every resident - no matter their national origin,
race, religion, sexual orientation, identity or any other protected
class - feels safe and welcome. Hate has no place here. No member of our
community – or any community – should ever live in fear or be fearful
of coming forward with reports of any act of violence, discrimination,
or ways in which you feel your human rights were violated.
To that end, we want to remind members of
the Medford community that we have taken steps to make sure every
resident feels safe, welcome, and empowered to report these issues. In
addition to reporting any act of violence or discrimination to the
Medford Police Department’s Civil Rights Officer, Kevin Purifory,
residents can submit a report or complaint directly to our Office of
Diversity & Human Resources. All complaints will be investigated
fairly, impartially, and promptly.
We are committed to ensuring Medford is a
safe and welcoming community for all, but this is a community effort.
Reporting issues, particularly acts of hate or discrimination, takes
courage – including courage from residents to speak out when they
witness injustice or discrimination. If you are a victim of violence or
discrimination, or know someone who was, please know and trust in the
fact that you can report these incidents to the Medford Police
Department or the City’s Office of Diversity and Human Resources safely.
