Cannabis Advisory Committee Sets Outreach Standards for Upcoming Public Meetings by Potential Applicants

Public meetings have been scheduled by applicants throughout the month of July.

In accordance with City Ordinances and under the guidance of the City’s Cannabis Advisory Committee, applicants pursuing an Adult Use Marijuana Retail Establishment license within the City of Medford will host independent community outreach meetings throughout the month of July 2021. Requirements set by the Cannabis Advisory Committee dictate that all applicants pursuing a retail license must hold a public meeting prior to August 1, 2021. Applicants pursuing a non-retail license will be invited to host public meetings on a rolling basis based on the status of their applications.

To date, the City has received proposals from 10 applicants. Per City ordinance, maximum of three establishments may be licensed within the City of Medford.

While applicants are required to consult with the City’s Office of Planning, Development, and Sustainability, public meetings held by each applicant will be scheduled and hosted by each applicant, not by the City of Medford or the Committee. For each public meeting, the City of Medford has issued guidelines for all community outreach meetings. The guidelines, as well as current applications and scheduled meetings are all available at www.medfordma.org/departments/planning-development-sustainability under “Adult Use Marijuana Establishments.”

Medford city services are available to all residents, regardless of economic situation, immigration status, ability, benefit eligibility, or religious affiliation.
