The months-long search to replace former Town Manager Andrew Maylor narrowed the applicant field down to four finalists: Murphy-Rodrigues; North Andover Assistant Superintendent Jim Mealey; former Salem, N.H., Town Manager Leon Goodwin III; and Tyngsboro Town Administrator Matthew Hanson.

There were about a dozen interview questions on the night of June 24, most of which focused on building and strengthening bridges in the community.

And Murphy-Rodrigues made own her case for the importance of listening. Asked what her biggest projects would be in her first 100 days, she said that time would be spent meeting and listening to residents and department heads.
