[smrto] A message from Mayor Lungo-Koehn - Aircraft Noise
'

Despite the efforts of my administration and our wonderful community representatives to the Massport Community Advisory Committee, I continue to hear from frustrated and concerned residents about the ongoing issues with increased airplane traffic over portions of our city. For over a year we have advocated to the FAA, Massport, and our state and federal delegations to try to get some relief for our residents. We have specifically asked that there be a more equitable dispersion of flights over all communities surrounding Logan Airport, rather than directing a heavy amount of air traffic over Medford. Recently, Massport and the FAA completed an RNAV study that shows how stark the increase has been, but fails to make any changes in routes.

Last month I submitted a lengthy letter to our federal delegation once again requesting their help and advocacy on this issue. (You can read the full letter and all updates at
www.medfordma.org/airplane-noise.) In the meantime, Massport will be holding a virtual public meeting on Thursday, September 23rd at 5:30pm where residents can provide feedback on the RNAV study. Please join the virtual meeting and find more information at
