WE DON'T KNOW IF ADAM HURTUBISE HAS CAUSED THE PROBLEMS, BUT HE'S ALWAYS RE-WRITING COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE AND COUNCIL AGENDA
ADAM HURTUBISE: NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME
Transcript goes on our story about the 12,000 voters: “There were no confirmation postcards sent out in March/April,” said Sandra Gale, whose position was created in June by the City Council. The city clerk is the recognized election official if there is no dedicated election coordinator.
Gale was confirmed as the election coordinator Oct. 21.
The inactive list was created the day after voter registration closed for the preliminary elections. Gale was alerted to the issue when residents checking voter status contacted the city with questions.
Two of the four volunteers appointed to the city’s Registrar of Voters had resigned during the year. Richard Laskey, who had served Medford for years, tendered his resignation in September citing his reluctance to have the city create a full-time elections coordinator position. Judith Murray, the chairwoman of the commission, also resigned during the year. Two others, James Wade and Adam Hurtubise, the city clerk, were joined on the board by Mark Crowley.
