Medford housing chief faces scrutiny over hirings

Editor's Note: Bonnie Curran is one of the kindest, sweetest women on the planet. Thug Bob Covelle, with his ties to disgraced former mayor Michael J. McGlynn who allegedly "resigned" but some say was allegedly told to step down by the FBI, treated Curran rudely; this reporter has taped board meetings at MHA and removed McGlynn's uncle, Gene McGillicuddy, as the appointment was a conflict of interest. Former Gov. Deval Patrick removed McGillicuddy at the suggestion of Joe Viglione, who brought it to the attention of the Governor.
But others say Covelle has clamped down on dissent during the federal and state investigations, creating a climate of fear for employees. (Covelle "clamped down" on a Whistleblower who exposed the crooked s.o.b. - editor's note) Authority managers suspended housing coordinator Bonnie Curran for rudeness in March, just weeks after she wrote to the board about Covelle’s alleged favoritism, according to authority records. In the letter, Curran said she was already known internally as “a rat.’’
Authority officials also suspended assistant director Barbara Fleming for five days last December after she complained to the board that the agency continued to hire a politically connected contractor after she had asked that the contractor be banned for poor-quality work, records show. Officials cited Fleming for losing her temper in the office.Continued...
