“I voted no in the past,” said Councilor Rick Caraviello, who lauded the request from a citizen’s committee to initiate the process by requesting ward elections for the commission. “The move to initiate charter review should come from the people, not from a bunch of politicians. I didn’t want a bunch of appointed people making these decisions."
RICK CARAVIELLO IS A PATHOLOGICAL LIAR AND I KNOW THAT HE LIED TO THE POLICE
I BELIEVE, UNDER OATH, IN CRIMINAL COURT, CARAVIELLO LIED TO JUDGE AND JURY

Councilor George Scarpelli, who had voted against the initiative in the past, reversed his earlier stance, citing the interest among the electorate in launching the process.
He cautioned, however, that a push to move to ward representation instead of each councilor serving at-large can backfire.
“I work in a city that elects representatives by ward,” Scarpelli said, referencing his position in Somerville's recreation department.
