MassGOP chairman Jim Lyons Anti-American Jimmy Lyons (we went to St. Agnes Arlington back in the 1960s) loses in court, wants to restrict your voting rights while Elizabeth Warren is looking to expand them.
The Supreme Judicial Court tossed a lawsuit against now-permanent COVID-era voting measures brought by the chairman of the Republican Party, who says he will take his case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. https://www.bostonherald.com/2022/07/11/bhr-l-voting-0712/?utm_email=B47AA4BF04D535F664F99407F9&g2i_eui=RgubftAtS%2bPZ3icRgqbNnp9LwXH2xBea&g2i_source=newsletter&lctg=B47AA4BF04D535F664F99407F9&active=no&utm_source=listrak&utm_medium=email&utm_term=https%3a%2f%2fwww.bostonherald.com%2f2022%2f07%2f11%2fbhr-l-voting-0712%2f&utm_campaign=boston-herald-nightly-briefing&utm_content=automated
“Having conferred with counsel, we will be seeking emergency relief from the U.S. Supreme Court because of federal law issues presented in the VOTES Act,” Chairman Jim Lyons said in a release following the court’s Monday decision.
Lyons and four others, including GOP candidate for Secretary of State Rayla Campbell, filed suit in late June against the current secretary, Democrat William Galvin, following the passage of the VOTES Act.
That law codified several pandemic-era voting changes. Those rules — no excuse absentee voting, expanded early voting and mailing every eligible voter a ballot request — are not enumerated in the state’s constitution and could lead to fraud, the plaintiffs told the court through counsel just last week, asking the full Supreme Judicial Court to stop Galvin from sending out ballot applications.
