convicted on all counts in case of woman abducted, raped after leaving a Boston bar Victor Peña, 42, was convicted of one count of kidnapping and 10 counts of aggravated rape. The jury took only about two hours to come to its verdict.
Peña faces 25 years in prison on the kidnapping charge. Each count of rape is punishable by up to 30 years. He is to face sentencing Monday morning.
Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney Ian Polumbaum said after the verdict that there was no evidence to support the defense’s theory that Peña was mentally ill.
“Victor Peña, undoubtedly, always knew what he was doing, was responsible for his actions, and experts who examined him came to the conclusion that he was feigning symptoms, and he was turning them on and off when he saw fit,” Polumbaum said.
