BREAKING NEWS MBTA to close newly opened Green Line extension for 4 weeks

Two days after announcing a four-week shutdown on the Orange Line, the MBTA on Friday said it is closing the newly opened Green Line extension between Government Center and Union Square for four weeks and delaying the opening of the Medford branch of the project until the fall, the latest setbacks for the troubled transit system. The Green Line extension closure will begin Aug. 22, four days after the Orange Line shuts down for a month beginning the evening of Aug. 19.
