Massachusetts GOP members seek help from national party in rift over auditor’s race
The deep rift within the MassGOP just widened with 36 party members signing on to a letter sent to RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel asking her to step in and help with the Nov. 8 general election.
The letter, a copy of which was shared with the Herald, urges McDaniel to intervene specifically in the state auditor’s race where Republican Anthony Amore is polling strongly against Democrat Diana DiZoglio.
There’s just one rub — Amore is backed by Gov. Charlie Baker, who has long been at odds with a more conservative faction of the state party.
“We … beseech you to use your office to intervene with Chairman Jim
Lyons and end his efforts to defeat our leading Republican candidate for
statewide office, Anthony Amore. Were it not for fear of reprisal,
several more members would have signed with us,” the letter to McDaniel
states. https://www.bostonherald.com/2022/09/30/massachusetts-gop-members-seek-help-from-national-party-in-rift-over-auditors-race/?g2i_eui=LlvAMyLAZmItAlKLX0rby12vwNY9aLeN&g2i_source=newsletter&lctg=E454C415948D740FF484A4358A&active=yesD
