Re: Massachusetts Public Records Request Medford Community Media

Dear Honorable Office Manager Spencer:

This is a request under the Massachusetts Public Records Law (M. G. L. Chapter 66, Section 10). I am requesting that I be provided a copy of the following records:

1)The document or documents that show the membership for the tv station that is alleged to be a "public" access station but appears to
be a private, extra government channel

2)the document that shows who the staff is, the complete staff, at Medford Community Media

3)The document demanding a CORI check which inhibits free speech and freedom of the press, which doesn't appear to be
required by those renting the high school.  The double standard appears to be designed to squelch public information at a time
when there is no true local paper (the Patch being Exhibit A in that regard.)

AG Merrick Garland states:  The attorney general, Merrick Garland, has even put in place expanded protections for journalists this fall, saying that “a free and independent press is vital to the functioning of our democracy”.

Sadly, Mayor Lungo-Koehn's malicious censorship is from the McGlynn and Mucinni-Burke doctrine of limit the press, use the station
for our own purposes, even though it was Joe Viglione and two colleagues who forced McGlynn to shut down the old TV3.

That Lungo-Koehn supported our efforts verbally, but didn't lift a finger to help, compounds her negligence and irresponsibility here,
as she was supposed to be the liberator, not cut from the same cloth as her opponents, McGlynn and Muccini-Burke.

I recognize that you may charge reasonable costs for copies, as well as for personnel time needed to comply with this request, however as an esteemed member of the press, quoted in the New York Times and Boston Globe and a plethora of books, I respectfully ask that you waive all fees as this information is of great public interest

The Public Records Law requires you to provide me with a written response within 10 business days. If you cannot comply with my request, you are statutorily required to provide an explanation in writing. Please send via e mail.

Sincerely,

Joe Viglione
