WHO DOES DONATO'S INFERIOR DECORATING? PAUL MACKOWSKI?

State Rep Paul J. Donato's Medford Office
An Observation by Joe Viglione

At 1:15 pm Monday, February 10th I was leaving a business meeting in Haines Sq. and decided to take some photos of former Mayor Michael J. McGlynn's failed pay-to-park fiasco.  Then I wandered over to my old pal Paul Donato's District office 271 Spring St, Medford, MA 02155 (781) 395-1683 - as opposed to his office at the State house - 24 Beacon St. Room 481, Boston.

By the look of the disaster at the bottom of the stairwell to his office, it looks like Mr. Donato really took his bill, H.4246 to heart authorizing the city of Medford to grant additional licenses for the sale of alcoholic beverages to be drunk on the premises.  The question is: did they get a license for 271 Spring St?   The stairwell could absolutely qualify for drunk and disorderly

H.4246     HD.4416    By Messrs. Donato of Medford and Garballey of Arlington, a petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 4246) of Paul J. Donato, Patricia D. Jehlen and Sean Garballey (by vote of the town) relative to authorizing the city of Medford to grant additional licenses for the sale of all alcoholic beverages to be drunk on the premises. Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure. [Local Approval Received.]

GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER?
THE DALI LAMA?

Now I go back to 1971 or 1972 when I first encountered manufacturer's rep Paul Donato, prior to him becoming mayor, and the former mayor may be angry at me for posting this information - but he shouldn't be.  The steps to Mr. Donato's office are a public safety hazard.

This is a disgrace.

This is NOT the way to run for re-election in 2020 and, furthermore, this is the rule, not the exception, in Haines Sq. under former mayors Michael J. McGlynn and Stephanie Muccini-Burke.

I have photographs going back years now of the fractured city streets, crosswalks and parking spaces they charge a LOT of money for...parking spaces with huge potholes that can harm your vehicle, yet you have to pay to park in what looks like a third-world country.

If Mr. Donato can't see outside his own front door, waits for you to complain about the state of Haines Square, then something is wrong.

You have to earn our vote, Paul.   This is just plain laziness and failure to perform.  Do NOT be derelict in your obligations to the citizens of Medford and the surrounding communities that may visit.  Do foreign dignitaries show up at 271 Spring St?   Does former city solicitor Mark E. Rumley still rent space from you for his law practice?  Who is the landlord at the old Medford Theater that is your district office?

We'll be watching 271 Spring St. to see if Mr. Donato can clean up his act...and Haines Square.
