He was “unsteady” on his feet, he wrote in his May 20, 2019 formal response to the allegations, when returning to the table from the bathroom due to travel, overindulgence in dinner and whiskey — he said he’d had one drink, but the victim said he took a pull from a silver flask right after the grope.

“I recall that as I began to pass by (the victim), to steady myself, I placed my hand in the direction of her chair and came into momentary contact with a portion of her lower body,” he wrote.

On Wednesday, the state Supreme Judicial Court found Judge Paul Sushchyk — who was appointed to the state Probate and Family Court in 2018 — to have “engaged in an intentional, nonconsensual, and unwelcome touching of a trial court employee” and lied to the court about it.
