Law enforcement sources told the Miami Herald that the suspect had a camera set up in his doorbell and was monitoring the agents as they approached. He opened fire with an assault-style weapon through the closed door before agents were even in position to knock and seek cover.
While such raids are usually conducted with heavily armed tactical officers, Tuesday’s operation was not.
