The shame to the whole Christopher Columbus name change process is that the public's input was secondary to how the school committee would actually vote. They said only a dead person was eligible but an exception was made for an earlier school built .... why? There should have been a complete public listing by votes of who the public voted for with totals listed. To now have three alleged finalists come under consideration without showing where they stood in the public naming and voting just proves that the public was used as a "lets make them feel good" without any great consideration to their choices. Another shame to this whole Christopher Columbus matter is that tolerance to the historical truth has been upstaged by an anti-Italian re-visionary ideology. This whole episode is just as bad the "Critical Race Theory" trying to be indoctrinated upon our youngest in both the private and public schools that are allowing its teachings. The time, effort, energy that have been and the costs to be associated for this change is education at its' worst. I am not sorry if I have offended some by my writings. I have a right to express my opinions just as those who wish to express those that differ from mine. Memorial Day, along with our American Flag, are the standard bearers of our American free speech ... as such, I stand by that and I thank our good GOD every day. 😅
