Medford needs to start tightening its budget. Your taxes go up for ultra-high paychecks for the two p.r. people, diversity director, school committee, city council. It's a free-for-all at your expense. You people all see I do forty times the work of these two, Jackie and Lisa, and the are getting paid way too much money to type and recycle what is fed to them.

Mosquito-borne illness information

by Jackie Piques

Due to an increase of mosquito-borne illness in the region (not specifically/only in Medford), the Massachusetts Department of Public Health has raised the region's risk level for West Nile Virus to high for areas including Medford.

To prevent mosquito-borne illnesses, such as West Nile Virus and EEE, community members can and should take the following precautions:

  • Use mosquito repellents with an EPA-registered active ingredient (such as DEET).
  • Limit outdoor activities from dusk to dawn, when mosquito activity is most likely.
  • Wear long sleeves, long pants, and socks when outdoors.
  • Limit the number of places around your home where there is standing water; mosquitoes lay their eggs in standing water.
  • Make sure the screens on your windows and doors are tight-fitting.
