Joe Battenfeld is a major reason I just dropped my subscription to the Boston Herald. He does a 180 and notes that Trump is done. Read the comments, the loons that still read that rag are still with criminal Trump. So stupid: Once Trump is fingerprinted and the mug shot is released, possibly on Tuesday when Trump will be arraigned, it will be around the world in 2 seconds.
Trump and his supporters should be concerned and can’t just laugh it off.
The notion that the indictment is the best thing that could happen to him is absurd. It will be an anchor around his neck for months and possibly years to come. Will many voters say it’s time to move on from this guy?
Trump can put out all the statements he wants and attack the Manhattan district attorney but that has a limited shelf life.
The indictment also may prevent Trump from running the type of campaign he’s used to leading. How is he going to run for president in his usual aggressive style, ruthlessly attacking his opponents, while he expects his opponents to rally to his defense?
They’re not going to do it.
The Republican opposition, which will likely include Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, may not pile on Trump but they aren’t going to rally around him, either. Trump’s indictment presents an opportunity to tell voters they need a fresh start and nominate a candidate without the baggage of a criminal trial.
