MEDFORD, MA — An alleged ax-throwing man who was at the center of a two-hour long standoff with police outside of the Kiss 108 studios Monday afternoon had been denied his song request at the radio station. The song was reportedly the Insane Clown Posse's My Axe.
Richard Newton, 38, was taken into custody by police, but not after SWAT responded to a quickly developing situation in the Cabot Street lot near Wellington Station. The lot is home to Kiss 108 studios, among others.

Medford Police Officer Gregory Hudson, most recently given probation and suspension for soliciting a prostitute, had previously been charged for assault and battery after "allegedly" (at least) choking his wife. She had bruises on her neck, yet his charges were "disposed" of after probation and 40 hours off of work. They kept a cop who commits crimes and they ended up with a cop who commits crimes. They also ended up with victims who saw there was no use turning to the court system for protection. Obviously Medford still keeps criminals on the force because again they are keeping Officer Hudson.

He has been on paid administrative leave since the charges, according to City Solicitor Mark Rumley.
Hudson's first disciplinary matter came in 1993, and was followed by two more issues in 1996, before a 1999 arrest for domestic assault, Rumley said, although details of those incidents, which were handled within the department and did non involve the civil service hearing process, were unavailable.
In an e-mail message, Medford Police Chief Leo A. Sacco Jr. declined to comment on the suspension.
"I do not have a copy of the Last Chance Agreement, I was not consulted and I have not seen the contents of the agreement," he wrotel.
