Hello Joseph,
I don’t know how my colleagues across the aisle are going to look our
veterans in the eye this Memorial Day. Just days away from a disastrous
default on America's bills, House Republicans are going home.
Let me be clear: their plan is to default. To run out the clock and push us into an unprecedented meltdown.
SHOULD CONGRESS AVOID DEFAULT AND PASS A CLEAN DEBT CEILING BILL?

Earlier, Matt Gaetz let slip that Republicans don't feel like negotiating "with our hostage."
And who has the GOP taken hostage? It's not the White House. It's not Congress. It's not Democrats. It's the American people.
They have presented our country with an impossible choice. Devastating
cuts or a devastating default? Hungry families or homeless seniors?
Kids without classrooms or parents without jobs? Empty VA clinics or
empty savings accounts? And now, no choice at all. Just a devastating
default.
I can promise you that Democrats are still in this fight, even if Speaker McCarthy has checked out. We won't abandon the American people.
Sincerely,
|
Congresswoman Katherine Clark
Democratic Whip
