Well, well, well, gluttony is out of fashion in Peabody, it seems, at least for the City Council.  Rumor has it, from a very good source, that the Peabody Council is about to rescind its pay raise voted in last February, 2013.

From the Peabody Patch
February 15, 2013      NOTE: 13 MONTHS AGO, 2013!

Councilors voted 7-3 (Gravel, Manning-Martin and Mello all said "no") to increase their salaries to 9 percent of the mayor's salary, starting in 2014, and give school board members an $1,100 raise. They will now earn $5,100 for their service while councilors will earn about $9,450 (up from $7,466).
Until now, the council's salary was not tied to the mayor's, but the majority of councilors agreed with Gamache to keep their salary now at 9 percent of the mayor's pay going forward.
Gamache noted Salem councilors receive 10 percent of their mayor's salary and Beverly councilors receive about $12,000 while Lynn and Revere councilors earn around $15,000.

Peabody City Councilors  - $7,466 to $9,450.00
Salem Councilors - 10 % of mayor's salary
Beverly Councilors $12,000
Revere Councilors $15,000

Medford Councilors - over 27,000.00 and a "blame the Mayor" game of some Councilors like Camuso and Dello Russo telling citizens that the Mayor they gave a pay raise to handles Public Access funds.  "See the man behind the curtain."  They never thought to hold McGlynn's paycheck back until he stops taking advantage of the P/E/G access monies paid for by cable tv subscribers.

It goes without saying that the exorbitant $27,000 PLUS that Medford taxpayers are shelling out is a weird and ugly form of usury (the practice of lending money and requiring the borrower to pay a high amount of interest) at its worst.    The councilors lend OUR money to THEMSELVES - hijacking it via eminent domain, and then require we lenders be the borrowers and charge us interest by upping the water/sewer fees, swiping the P/E/G access TV funds, and leaving our crosswalks unpainted, our roads and infrastructure decimated, cracked and dangerous.

Paul Camuso is the biggest offender, the big cheese who put himself in charge via sleight of hand, the Cheeseman of Medford, with a smug smile as he voted to give himself a raise.  SUCH A DEAL!

It's waste, abuse and perhaps borderline fraud at its worst.  It is SELF SERVING at the very least when the paltry votes Camuso garnered were for PUBLIC SERVICE.  But that joker doesn't give a damn about you or me.  Paul Camuso is in it for himself.

City Council The Peabody City Council is an eleven member board elected every two years by the voters. The Council is comprised of six Ward Councilors and five Councilors-at-Large. Each Ward Councilor answers to the needs and problems of the constituents within his or her designated ward area. Councilors-at-Large are responsible for representing the needs of all citizens and businesses in the City.

Each year at the City's Inaugural or midterm Inaugural, the City Council elects a Council President who presides over every meeting. It is the Council President's responsibility to ensure that each meeting is conducted in an orderly fashion, that the Rules and Regulations established by the City Council are followed, and that each agenda is carried through. The Council President and the Mayor work together to ensure that the Legislative and Executive branches of government collaborate to make Peabody a better City in which to live.

This writer has asked Medford citizens to look at cities and towns in surrounding communities to see how they are governed, to see how P/E/G access works.  Voter apathy allows the wolves like Camuso, Caraviello, Dello Russo and Knight to raid the hen house and chomp chomp chomp on our pennies until there is nothing left for the community.  Broken roads, empty storefronts, lies from the lips of the public servants.

Now look at this website from last year

Pay increases approved for Mayor, City Councilors and School Commitee

15 Feb By Bob Croce, EOP Publisher
I’ll weigh in during the discussion, but for now I just wanted to get our readership’s  reaction to the Peabody City Council last night voting pay raises for the Mayor,  School Committee members,  and City Councilors.
Here are the basic details.  (You can read more in this article from the Peabody Patch.)
The City Council voted 8-2 to hike the Mayor’s pay from $94,933 per year to $105,000 per year (10% increase). It’s the first mayoral raise in 12 years.

RUMOR IS THAT PEABODY RESCINDED THE PAY RAISE.

WE'RE WORKING ON GETTING THAT INFORMATION.

WHEN WE DO YOU WILL READ IT HERE.
