Robert Dickinson will assume duties this spring following an exhaustive six-month search and hiring process.
Mayor
Breanna Lungo-Koehn has appointed Nantucket Assistant Town Accountant
Robert Dickinson as Medford’s Director of Finance. He will finish his
duties at Nantucket and begin transitioning to his new role at City Hall
soon. Dickinson will oversee the City’s finance department and lead the
coordination and implementation of the City’s $192 million budget. The
City of Medford initially posted for the open position in July 2021 and
conducted a thorough search process, in line with the City’s hiring
policies and procedures.
Prior
to joining Medford, Dickinson spent over a decade in the finance
department at the Town of Nantucket, serving as Accounting Clerk from
2006 to 2011 and as Assistant Town Accountant since March 2011. While at
Nantucket, Dickinson oversaw cash, accounts receivable, and
withholdings reconciliations, as well as helped craft the town’s $97
million budget. He managed the towns accounting system, Munis, and
developed annual town audits and tax recaps.
“Bob
has the comprehensive skillset, experience and keen financial eye that
will make him an integral member of our finance team,” Mayor Lungo-Koehn
said. “I am so thrilled that he will be joining us and bringing his
unique budgeting perspective and strong work-ethic to our City.”
“I’m
honored to have the opportunity to work with the administration to
craft a budget and help set priorities and fiscal goals for the City,”
incoming Finance Director Robert Dickinson said. “The Mayor has an
ambitious vision for Medford, and I can’t wait to get to work to make it
a reality.”
Dickinson,
a certified governmental accountant by the Massachusetts Municipal
Auditors’ and Accountants Association, has a bachelor’s degree from
Cornell University and earned a master’s degree in Public and Private
Management from the Yale School of Management.
