Hello Breanna,
I want to again praise Janice Spencer, she is one of the most efficient and honest people
working in City Hall. She and Attorney Scanlon have treated me, and other individuals
with respect. Refreshing where many on the city council have behaved in an anti-social
manner.
Attached is the list of "inactive" classes at the pretty much defunct public access TV station.
Along with my ability to talk to A - List guests - and you witnessed me speaking to
former Police Commissioner Ed Davis when we had permission to tape Michael Douglas'
lecture, with you standing next to Michael Douglas - well, the proof is in the pudding
and you, dear Breanna, witnessed the proof.
So why is there a duck boat driver with zero access experience operating the TV station
so poorly?
It seems that you don't want the transparency that you are running for mayor on.
You give Mr. Caraviello a huge opportunity to attack your campaign because, even
though he is more deficient in that regard than you are, he can use it powerfully as
you are the issuing authority, you are the mayor.
Twitter and preserving shows on multiple external hard-drives is something I have
to be an expert at in my work as a publicist (47 years now.) You know my resume,
clients include Rolling Stones producers (two of them,) Mick Taylor from the Stones,
Marty Balin of the Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship, Spanky and Our Gang,
Ian Lloyd from Stories (#1 hit, "Brother Louie,") Bobby Hebb, author of Sunny
(RIP anniversary yesterday August 3, 2010) - if Platinum artists trust me with
their p.r. and Hard Rock Cafe shows and such, why do you go outside of Medford
so many times for - we say this respectfully - hacks with no knowledge of the craft?
As Executive Director I can bring in great teachers to have classes that matter,
that will help the children of Medford learn computer skills, as well as grandmas
and grandpas. They all need a CORI check - beyond absurd and hardly transparency,
when there's a stabbing in the school and a respected local lawyer said a door
to the school was wide open all day long.
So you want grandpa to have a CORI check to talk sports or politics?
No, it seems you do not want to be transparent.
As I operated two AM radio stations, AM 1570 in 1992, AM 1670 in 2000,
with a trimulcast of TV 3 Medford, the internet (not in vogue at the time,)
and radio on one of my stations (1670, Allston/Brighton Free Radio) and
was on a board of directors of a radio station at another access station,
when will you, Mayor of Medford, make things happen? And who can
you find with my years of experience? No one.
Stephanie Muccini-Burke was excited when I told her that I could
install a radio station. She said she could get us monies from
Homeland Security until Michael J. McGlynn shot it down.
How sad. Fire, Police, the schools - and the citizenry - all would
have benefited from my skills and honest efforts. We can apply
for a Low Power FM license right now, simulcast TV shows on
radio, interrupt programming in a snow or fire emergency, and
seniors without cable TV could get radios to tune in.
It's a win/win denied the community by the pettiness of Medford
politics....vis-a-vis my knowledge of public records requests which
the power structure absolutely loathes. So much for transparency
So let us discuss a real tv station, send Kevin Harrington back to driving
a duck boat as he's been a disaster for Medford television, and why
don't we work together for transparency you can brag about at election
time.
And think how angry and out-of-sorts Caraviello will be with his
nemesis, yours truly, operating the access station!
As you know, I put my life savings into court cases to bring access to Medford, only to
find the Mayor, McGlynn, blindsiding us when I forced him to shut down the 501c3 for
alleged malfeasance, and all that money that is missing. I still file public records request
with the AG's office which tells me they are still investigating MCC TV 3 (Medford) and
Lynn TV and that they cannot say more because "law enforcement" is involved.
You know McGlynn and his powerful colleagues allegedly don't want that fact to come out
as it reflects badly on him. - the alleged TV3 embezzlement (and writing alleged makes me
cringe because we all know the truth about Mikey ex Mayor and his alleged ignorance in that
regard. Mike McGlynn knows all and playing Mickey the Dunce won't help him)
Not being proactive in this reflects badly on you, Breanna.
Had I been hired to run the TV station in 2005, we would have a flourishing community
center rich with Medford history. As you know, I started in Access television in 1979,
one of the oldest in the country. My friend Bob Boyd ran Groton Access in 1973 - I wrote
the liner notes to a rare video Bob directed of blues legend John Lee Hooker.
Medford has missed out on so many football games, cooking shows, baseball games,
the next Bobby Orr might be on tapes that I never got to produce. I do have Bob DeLeo,
Rep Donato's friend, on a Thanksgiving football game in Winthrop when I was hired to
tape both football and hockey for WCAT-Winthrop. I also taped on the pitcher's mound
in the freezing cold at Fenway Park (and first base!) Martha Coakley should have
descended the stairway a la Trump on the escalator, she would have become
Governor, most likely but, alas, we were in the cold working and my gal Martha
stayed home (I think she and I were on Channel 5 together at Dempsey's, to
your pal McGlynn's chagrin, he was there, and me talking about access, and the
lack thereof, on the TV news.)
Bill Press, formerly with CNN and Sirius XM, was on my show twice and calls
me "The King of Mass. Cable TV." With over 1000 interviews ranging from
the Doors' Ray Manzarek, Robbie Krieger (in print) and John Densmore,
Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future,) Jodie Foster, Rob Gronkowski, well,
you know, the Boston Globe did two articles on my A List Guests and interviewed
me about the band The Cars (Sunday Globe magazine about 3 weeks ago...)
After 18 years of nonsense, and decades of no access television, I want to help
you prove to your opponent that you are the transparency mayor.
Failure to bring this expert onboard only gives Mr. Caraviello the evidence that
he is looking for. I've worked hard and you took my hard work and honest effort
so that the TV station belongs to you, not the public, yet you proclaim that you
are a public servant?
Really?
I think you know I'm being VERY polite in this e mail. I don't need Medford
Access, obviously, my radio show airs every week and I have tons of guests
lined up. But that's not the point. The point is that your transparency doesn't
exist and I'm the guy who can give Medford a voice, a community center and
much more. And Medford owes it to me. You certainly know that.
Right now my hard work in the creation of the access station is Breanna TV.
Don't be like McGlynn naming a school and a cafeteria for his family. You are
bigger and better than that.
You want to see an excellent staff and flourishing access? Even the former
president, Frank Pilleri, knew how I could bring hundreds of members to
the station. He was aware of it. It wasn't on their private access TV agenda.
Stop the private access Breanna TV. You are better than that.
