MBTA EXPECTS 95 percent drop in fare revenue - Blame Loony Julie!

MA: MBTA expects 95 percent drop in fare revenue for April, May and June
The MBTA will likely need to use about a quarter of the $827 million emergency federal funding it received to close a major pandemic-caused revenue gap in this year's budget.

MBTA Fare Transformation Program Advances With Approval of Amendment
by Times Staff • • 0 Comments
Under the phased approach and in the short term, Fare Transformation will result in improvements that include:
•The ability to pay for a trip on all Zone 1A stations on the Fairmount Commuter Rail Line with a CharlieCard;
•Deploying fare vending machines that dispense CharlieCards;
•All-door boarding on MBTA buses and surface stops along the Green Line;
“Under this program reset, we’ll be able to deliver one system that can be used across all modes that meets the needs of our customers today, and has the ability to adapt to future needs,” said MBTA General Manager Steve Poftak. “Especially in light of recent changes to daily life caused by COVID-19, it’s more important than ever to move toward a dynamic system with contactless options that can withstand major changes to conditions that would otherwise undermine a legacy system of fare collection.”

Real Medford Mass Politics Solutions: GET RID OF ADAM, RICK AND GEORGE !!!! CRISIS IS OPPORTUNITY DURING THIS PANDEMIC

REAL MEDFORD MA POLITICS
My response to Stephanie (not Muccini-Burke)
We both are putting good ideas on the table for discussion.
Of course in the recent past some of my ideas would be considered unrealistic .
COVID-19 is a reset button - in over 65 years I have never experienced anything like this.
Let's be realistic about COVID-19 - then get back to the politicians. The gas "crisis" was manufactured by OPEC in 1973 and 1979 - that was a precursor to this 2020 madness forty-seven years later.https://www.npr.org/.../gas-lines-evoke-memories-oil...
Then the AIDS crisis also blindsided the world in the 1970s and 1980s, around the same time as the OPEC lunacy https://www.avert.org/professio.../history-hiv-aids/overview
A "reset" button usually follows these "tipping points" in modern history. That's when high-minded people seek solutions while greedy, selfish "carpetbaggers" see opportunity and take advantage.
(A KK who calls himself KM comes to mind here!)
Does anyone really need 38 billion dollars to live (I think I could survive on four or five billion, thank you very much) and were I to employ your solid case, which is a very good one, Stephanie, I wouldn't want the unholy three (Rick, George and Adam) on the city council, nor would I want a novice like Zac on a city council, and certainly not for 30K a year.
As the public gets squeezed and starts understanding the peril their family is in due to stupid individuals not following the rules (Adam K prime example - can't even follow the current council rules which we the people know better than Adam, and he wants to make new ones that benefit him personally) - once the squeeze hits and hurts and three hundred Medford residents storm the castle, then you will have change.
Right now it is a free for all and y'all are paying much too much money for something you aren't receiving. Heck, I live on a Medford street that extends by inches into Malden...it is actually pretty funny the boundaries.
I live directly on the Medford border by a few feet into Malden and some troublemaker at the March 10 city council tries to make that an issue.
We can all go speak to the Medford Oregon city council if we so choose, it's a free country, and therein lies the problem - how do residents in this region get along when certain elected officials and their minions are so transparently selfish and spouting malarkey when a crisis hits?
Tipping point and reset button.
Let the unicorns march!
Crisis is opportunity and the bigger the crisis the bigger the opportunity to throw the bums out.
The big difference here, Stephanie, is that the longer this pandemic festers the more of an opportunity for the citizens to demand council and school committee paychecks be cut for the greater good, opening the door for a volunteer system.
In January that would have been unthinable...but these political April showers - indeed - open the door to May flowers - opportunities to change city government.
Mayor Lungo-Koehn I have some advice:
find a way to remove Adam, Rick and George replacing them with Erin, Jean and Natalie and you now have YOUR city council, not McGlynn's gift to Mrs. Burke.
Let those who have ears hear.
WHY am I watching all the Sopranos' episodes in the middle of the Knight, Adam? We're going to have a peaceful coup in Medford and replace the three stooges - peacefully - with Erin, Natalie and Jean!
A peaceful coup using the pandemic to expose three and a half rotten apples on the Medford city council
The newbie idiot is the half a rotten apple because he is too stupid to grasp the political infection.

Rest in Peace Malden Pianist Preacher Jack Coughlin - Posted around 8 pm by Jack's manager, 4-26-2020

My Malden Observer interview/ article on Preacher Jack

For those who love the unique piano sound heard on the soundtrack to the Tom Cruise/Sydney Pollack movie “The Firm,” the hard-working piano man from Malden offers that style of ivory tickling and so much more.
“Preacher Jack” (a.k.a. Jack Coughlin), commands the stage like an evangelist explaining his “religion” of rock and blues with a raw, distinctive voice that cuts through better than Jimmy Swaggart or Jerry Falwell could ever hope to — probably because when The Preacher dives in to “Just A Closer Walk With Thee,” resplendent in Gospel overtones and backing vocalists, you believe him — and understand he believes in what he’S singing and playing.
The Malden Observer caught a performance by Jack on May 8, 2008 at Club Bohemia, the downstairs of the Cantab Lounge in Central Square, Cambridge.
It’s a dark den of sin in need of redemption that Preacher Jack lovingly provides as he bangs away on his traveling keyboard. Offstage, he’s a very personable — and quite reserved — individual, pleasant and engaging.
Here’s a bit of background that the Boston-area legend provided us.
Observer: How long have you lived in Malden?
Preacher Jack: I was born in Malden Feb. 12, 1942 and lived there until the late 1970s. I moved to Salem, Mass., and have resided at the Lafayette Hotel on Washington Street ever since

Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn is high profile, she's the mayor and she's in the news pretty much daily. Former Mayor Michael J. McGlynn is still on our radar with his multiple projects in construction along with his attorney / lobbyist brother, but Stephanie M. Burke is like she went swimming in (not on!) Plum Island and walked off the shelf to disappear forever. What has happened to Stephanie Muccini-Burke over 100 days after a new Mayor is in office? The Invisible Woman is more than just a movie!

“Really Want to Flood NY and NJ”: Internal Documents Reveal Team Trump’s Chloroquine Master Plan
Forget testing, ventilators, and PPE. Donald Trump’s big plan to beat COVID-19 involved distributing millions of doses of an unproven drug. Behind the scenes, senior administration officials pushed hard to bend the rules and back up his boasts.
