(Author's note: This should be the seventh regular meeting of the
Medford City Council, but one of the most expensive councils in the Commonwealth took a night off for a few inches of snow.  Then, on February 12, 2014, Council President Camuso, reported in the Medford Transcript as the councilor with the worst attendance record, was not present.  That's two meetings in 2014 that Councilor Camuso, paid Thirty Thousand Dollars or so a year, did not attend.

Perhaps the Council Vice President, with a very good attendance record, and thumbs up for a great performance on February 12, 2014, should be the president and Mr. Camuso should have the dignity to step down and let a professional and veteran do the business for the citizens of Medford.

Nogales City Council Found in Violation of Open Meeting Law

(Phoenix, Ariz. – July 9, 2008) An investigation by the Attorney General's Office has concluded that the Nogales City Council violated the state Open Meeting Law earlier this year. The violation occurred when a proposed order to appoint new city officials, signed by four Nogales City Council members, was discussed by a quorum of the council outside of a properly noticed meeting.

The investigation concluded that an April 1 letter with a proposed motion to appoint a new city manager, mayor and city council member was the result of a series of nonpublic discussions among Nogales City Council members.

  • Resident files open meeting law, zoning complaints against Council

  • A Cambridge resident has filed two complaints against the City Council with the state Attorney General, one charging violations of the state’s zoning law, the other alleging breaches in the open meeting law.

  • Cambridge
Central to the complaint is what long-time activist Charles Teague calls an “ongoing pattern” of violations, which he directed primarily at Councilor David Maher, chairman of the Ordinance Committee, which oversees zoning petitions. Teague said Maher used his position to favor petitions submitted by developers over some resident-submitted petitions. Maher denies the allegations.
Teague filed his first complaint of zoning law violations Oct. 9. The Attorney General’s Office confirmed they received an open meeting law complaint Oct. 17.
