Where is Responsible
Leadership?
June 12th Parade and Hormel
Stadium the Week Before put Public at Unnecessary and Massive Public Risk
An
Essay from Joe Viglione
Parades, road races and the like are fun and
fine, the concern is a pandemic raging around the world and escalating, Covid-19.
Infection rates are rising…large crowds
gathering inches away from each other is as dangerous as running around and
breathing the air after a dirty bomb goes off.
To say that I am shocked by Mayor Breanna’s
cavalier walk into the danger zone is a huge understatement. All the promises on the campaign trail and
today’s Twilight Zone frivolous escapade into a possible waste hazard – Covid-19
– a hazard of highly-potential disastrous proportions - is reckless behavior and it is unacceptable.
It was irresponsible as well as reckless.
Last week was Hormel Stadium, this week a
quasi-parade...it sends a mixed message. Wear masks in stores, come out and
protest or party in the street with a wild, complicated virus out there. Government
officials lecture about Covid then get behind this massive public safety risk?
Welcome to Day 160 of Mayor Lungo-Koehn’s
administration – the day after the public was possibly exposed to Covid-19. What next?
An after-parade party where the mayor gives everyone her blessing to
have unprotected sex in the era of HIV?
Don’t feign outrage over that
comparison. Grow up. It is logical, sensitive and factual. The mayor that promised integrity and
transparency is behaving like an immature pied piper putting the community at
high risk with revelers following her off of the cliff.
Breanna Lungo Koehn knows me very well. I removed Mayor McGlynn’s uncle from his
inappropriate seat on the Medford Housing Authority board of directors; this
writer then forced McGlynn into a corner and forced the then-mayor to shut down
Medford Community Cablevision saving the city well over a million dollars,
I’m the one person who defied former
solicitor Mark Rumley and obtained the L’Italien Report as well as the
Middlesex County Brady list and I brought the legendary producer of The Rolling
Stones to Medford nine years before his passing and got him an apartment behind
Breanna’s law office when she was about four years of age.
This activist is effective and gets things done. Where Breanna is afraid of her enemies and
caves in to them, I show no fear.
And to fight a public menace like Covid 19 we
need fearlessness, not a foolish walk where possible infections can erupt and
where businesses like Harvard Vanguard – there to help save lives – are inconvenienced
by a reckless decision that can kill your grandparents and your kids.
I would have postponed the event to a safer
date in the future – when the dust settles and the air clears.
That is leadership. That is what you want to see in city
government. You won’t find that in on
the fence Caraviello or off the fence Michael Marks….both poster boys for why
we need term limits and charter change.
Unqualified hacks like Chief of Staff David Rodrigues or Muccini Burke’s
leftovers – Mike Nestor, Neil Osborne, TV3’s Pat Gordon, Police Chief Buckley,
32 Brady-listed cops…
This observer submits that Mayor Breanna
Lungo-Koehn used the pandemic as a smokescreen to run and hide from the L’Italien
Report that she inherited. On October 1,
2019 City Councilor Lungo-Koehn told Chief Buckley that her constituents fear
the police. Now Mayor Breanna enables
Buckley’s incessant wrongful conduct.
You think I write these daily essays for my
health? I’m in the middle of a massive
archiving project and have much, much better things to do. But malfeasance this disgusting has to be
addressed and no one else in Medford has the integrity to stare George
Scarpelli in the eye and tell him that after the Otis Mass hazing – and I’m
being polite – I wouldn’t let him watch my goldfish, let alone your kids. Rick
Caraviello lies to the police, ex clerk Ed Finn commits a violent assault on a
senior – a felony, Adam Knight is beyond incompetent. So – dear taxpayer – go to Stop and Shop with
your triple coupon and save a buck and a half while the city council reaches
into your other pocket and takes 30k each that they do not deserve.
We, however, are not talking about Medford
residents getting ripped off because of their own apathy. We are discussing a mayor that drove your
kids inches apart from each other in the midst of a pandemic on Friday, June
12, 2020. That ought to scare the hell
out of you.
Wake up, Medford. Go to the Medford Mass page on Facebook and see
the photos of Curtis Tuden. The virus
rages and your mayor wouldn’t postpone the event to a time when plague
particles might not be around to kill your friends, your loved ones or
you. When are you going to wake up,
Medford?
