Officer Richard Lebert - yet more police misconduct: Suspended only 5 days after allegedly hitting a man in Woburn, resulting in a $49,000.00 judgment paid NOT by the alleged perpetrator, Officer Richard LeBert, but by you dear Medford citizens: July 1992 – Suspension No. 3: On duty – but in Woburn

LeBert and his uncle Richard LeBert get into a fight with a Woburn man who had allegedly spit on LeBert’s wife.

The man, Paul Thompson Jr., brought a criminal case for assault against Richard and Stephen LeBert to a Somerville District Court judge, but no judgment was found.

A civil case in 1994 resulted in a $100,000 judgment against Richard LeBert. His attorney, Thompson and the state agreed to a settlement of $49,000, which the city of Medford eventually paid.

The Medford Police Department investigated the incident, and both officers were suspended for five days for being out of the city while on duty.

In Sacco’s notice of suspension to LeBert, he writes: “Contrary to accepted procedure, you did not wait for the Woburn Police, but rather did confront the situation in Woburn while in uniform as a Medford Police officer outside of your jurisdiction.” http://medford.wickedlocal.com/article/20150814/NEWS/150817509
