Drafted and shepherded the senator’s legislative agenda, primary liaison with Senate leadership team, admitted and steered legislation to appropriate committees, conducted regular meetings with senate colleague staff, outside constituency and advocacy groups, and special interest and lobbying groups. Directed the office of constituent services, overseeing all outreach and response efforts in the State House and District Office. Managed the daily public schedule for the senator, approved public appearance requests, and delegated all staff appearances on behalf of the senator. Prime spokesman and media contact, expressed the public policy position in op-ed and opinion pieces. Served as Chief Policy Advisor, helping develop the senator’s position on numerous high-profile issues, including the historic 2004 Massachusetts Constitutional Convention on same-sex marriage. Initiated and managed the senator’s successful lobbying effort on Dilboy Stadium in Somerville, securing $8 million in funding. Served as political director for the senator’s re-election campaign effort.
