Search warrant executed at home of Brockton Housing maintenance man
Beals was first arrested and charged with rape on Wednesday last week after police began investigating the alleged misuse of a master key for the Brockton Housing Authority. The key investigation led police to the alleged victim, a 22-year-old contract security officer for the Brockton Housing Authority, who told police that he moved in with Beals eight months ago.
The 22-year-old alleged victim told police that, despite how he repeatedly said “no,′ Beals would touch him inappropriately and have sex with him. The victim said this went on throughout the course of his stay at Beals’ Michael Drive home, and that Beals would pay him off and lavish him with gifts in order to get him to comply.
In a police report, an officer said his opinion is that Beals is “the type of individual that preys” on young, mentally challenged men, sexually abusing his victims while “showering” them with free items and money.

Reached on Thursday, the executive director of the Brockton Housing Authority said Beals remains employed by the agency, but he is now on paid leave, as a matter of policy as the investigation continues. Beals has worked for the Brockton Housing Authority for about 37 years.
